Kauri Black Interview
We’ve spoken to well over 100 transfers this spring, and as much as we’d like to share info with the whole world, behind the scenes is where we earn our keep.
One interview that we wanted to share with the general public is the one that occurred last night with Northeastern graduate Kauri Black.
Black graduated from Northeastern in 3 years, and will be eligibile immediately at the next school he attends as a result.
It was refreshing to hear about a kid with all kinds of suitors and offers understand his worth and that the name on the front of the jersey is not going to guarantee him anything in terms of his final season of collegiate eligibility.
Black has taken 3 visits thus far, and has a slew of schools on him, but with two visits left the 2 favorites are Tulsa and Tennessee Tech. He has already visited Tulsa, and while he loves the staff, and believes Danny Manning can help him reach his ultimate goal of playing professionally, he is a loyal kid, and Tennessee Tech has been on him the longest.
He will be a mismatch problem in the OVC, capable of making guys around him better, while also carrying the team in spurts on different nights.
He can be productive in C-USA, especially w/ a depleted Tulsa roster, but there won’t be as many mismatches for him to take advantage of w/ his skill set.

With the 2011-2012 Prep School season in the books, it is now time to reflect on the year at a glance, and dole out some well deserved awards.
First things first, congrats to 2011-2012 Prep School National Champions Brewster Academy on their tournament run. Although they fell to NEPSAC champion Northfield Mt. Hermon, they rallied around each other and beat Hargrave in the finals at Albertus Magnus College.
In terms of quality basketball, this may have been one of the best years in the prep school ranks as there were a few teams that stepped into the limelight to create more then a few lasting memories on the season. Teams like Massanutten Military Academy, La Jolla Prep, and Action Sports Academy all became nationally known commodities on the prep scene, and earned plenty of people’s respect in various basketball circles.
As far as players go, the field was loaded!
Every event featured a star studded cast, and competition was at an all time high.
For their efforts the following 10 Prep School players received All American recognition as well as one coach who earned National Coach of the Year:

2011-2012 Prep School Rankings:
This is the third installment of prep school rankings. All rankings done below are current as of 2/22/2012.
There was no change in the Top 5 as all the heavyweights have more then held their own since the halfway point of the season. But, there has been a bit of a shake up in the 6-10 teams.
Let’s take a look, shall we…
Fabyon Harris Interview
Fabyon Harris is well known throughout basketball circles, and rightfully so. But, what people do not realize about the 6′ PG from College of Southern Idaho is, the road he has traveled to put himself in a position to succeed has been a trying one. Dealing with the loss of his mother, who was murdered when he was six years old, has made him grow up quick, but also blessed him with the ability to lead and make the people around him better.
We had a chance to catch up with Fabyon recently and saw first hand just how mature he is.
Greensboro, NC MLK Classic
Greensboro MLK Classic
Flew into Greensboro, NC last night to take in the night caps of the Greensboro MLK Classic.
Traditionally, this is a big time one day deal, but this year didn’t have that star power, with most every big name at the Hoophall Classic up in Massachusetts.
The two games on the schedule were #1 Oak Hill Academy vs Greensboro Dudley and #7 High Point Christian Academy vs Quality Education Academy.

Pepsi Fight Against Cancer Challenge
Pepsi Fight Against Cancer Challenge
Wednesday night marked the first annual Pepsi Fight Against Cancer Challenge at Hargrave Military Academy. The Challenge featured four teams, with Massanutten Military Academy playing St. Ignatios Prep in the 5:30pm game. While the Hargrave Tigers took on Believe Prep at 7:30pm.
There was quite a bit of talent among the four teams, and both games had more then their fair share of action.
